The Crunchy Granola That Loves Your Gut (Almost As Much As You Do)

Granola has earned a bit of a bad reputation.
Many store-bought versions are loaded with refined sugars and unnecessary additives. Homemade granola, however, is a completely different story.
Made with whole ingredients, healthy fats and fibre-rich oats, this recipe is designed to support both your gut microbiome and your hormones - while tasting incredible.
Oats: one of the best foods for your microbiome
Oats are naturally rich in beta-glucan, a special type of soluble fibre.
Beta-glucan helps feed beneficial gut bacteria while also supporting healthy cholesterol levels and more stable blood sugar responses.
Seeds are tiny nutritional powerhouses
Pumpkin and sunflower seeds provide healthy fats, fibre and minerals including magnesium and zinc.
These nutrients play important roles in everything from metabolism to hormone production.
Cinnamon isn't just for flavour
Cinnamon adds warmth and sweetness naturally while research suggests it may help support healthy blood sugar regulation when combined with an overall balanced diet.
Why homemade wins
Unlike many commercial granolas, this recipe lets you control every ingredient.
No unnecessary fillers.
No hidden sugars.
Just simple whole foods.
The recipe

- 3 cups of Oats
- 3 tbsp Peanut butter
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
- ½ cup of mixed raw nuts
- ½ cup Sunflower seeds

- ¼ cup Coconut flakes
- ¼ Raisins
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon

Method
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius.
- Mix your dry ingredients together, but keep the raisins and coconut flakes separate - these will only be added in the second half of the baking process.
- Mix your wet ingredients together and add it to the dry mixture. Mix until all the dry ingredients are coated with the wet mixture.
- On a baking sheet prepared with baking paper spread your mixture evenly across the pan.
- Bake your granola for 10 minutes, then add your raisins and coconut and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Your granola will be ready when it’s golden brown and crispy.
- To get the classic chunky granola, make sure to not mix your granola until it has cooled down completely.
- Break into pieces, store in airtight jars and enjoy!
